If you’re interested in Invisalign in Lakewood, you may be wondering how you’ll have to adjust your daily routine to clean your Invisalign trays. What steps do you need to take to keep your teeth and trays clean? Find out now in this blog from Lakewood Smiles Dentistry.
When you wake up in the morning, you should take out your trays and brush your teeth thoroughly for at least two minutes. Once you’re done cleaning your teeth, move on to your Invisalign trays.
We recommend using a separate toothbrush and unscented clear soap to clean your trays. This is more effective than just brushing them with water. Note that you should never use toothpaste to clean your trays, because the abrasives in toothpaste can scratch the trays and make them look cloudy.
When wearing Invisalign, you should rinse out your trays and brush your teeth after every meal or snack. You can’t eat or drink anything while wearing Invisalign trays, with the exception of clear tap water and bottled water, so you’ll need to remove them before you eat or drink anything.
Make sure that you always rinse your trays as you remove them throughout the day, and brush your teeth after each meal. If you can’t brush after a meal, you should at least rinse your mouth with mouthwash or water.
In addition, make sure you store your trays in the provided carrying case whenever they’re not in your mouth. This prevents the buildup of bacteria, and prevents you from accidentally damaging or misplacing your Invisalign trays.
Once you’ve had your final meal of the day, you should take out your Invisalign trays and brush your teeth thoroughly. Then, you’ll want to deep clean your Invisalign trays.
You can do this with special “Invisalign crystals,” or with any denture cleaner you find at the drugstore. Just put your trays in some water and follow the instructions on the label to soak, clean, and sterilize your Invisalign trays.
Once that’s done, remove them from the water, rinse them out, and put them back into your mouth. Then, go to sleep, and get ready to start the process all over again the next morning!
Caring for your Invisalign trays takes a little bit of getting used to, but the process is easy once you’re used to it. Best of all, following the above steps will ensure your trays stay clean, won’t smell, and will look bright and clear throughout your Invisalign treatment in Lakewood.
